We are delighted to celebrate an exciting collaboration that has enriched learning for our pupils this term. One of our teachers, Ramisa, worked closely with the Victoria and Albert Museum (Young V&A) team to help develop a creative workshop experience for primary learners. She shared her curriculum expertise with the designers, supporting the design of an engaging and accessible programme for children.
As a result of this partnership, two of our classes were able to attend the workshop free of charge, a significant opportunity given that sessions are usually charged. This ensured more pupils could benefit from a high-quality cultural and educational experience.
During the workshop, pupils explored the science of sound in a hands-on and imaginative way.
They created movie sound effects for stop motion film clips, including scenes inspired by classic animation, as well as investigating how different materials produce different vibrations. Using experimentation, they selected the most effective objects to create sound effects.
Through play, testing and performance, pupils developed creative confidence, teamwork and communication skills. The workshop directly supports learning across Design and Technology, Science and English.
The young learners generated and developed ideas, selected materials for purpose, observed patterns in sound, and built vocabulary through discussion and evaluation.
This partnership has had a lasting impact on our learners by broadening their experiences and deepening their understanding of how classroom learning connects to real-world industries.
This work strongly reflects our value of Creativity as pupils were able to experiment, imagine and express ideas in new ways. Creativity is central to this experience because it encourages problem-solving, innovation and self-expression, helping pupils to grow in confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning.
